Large Tuscarora cliff band at a privately owned outdoor recreation area called Nelson Rocks Preserve. The plots were accessed by the Via Ferrata. A series of fixed ladders and steel cables built for recreational access to the rock.;Steep NW facing Tuscarora cliff. Much of the cliff wall is covered with lichen species. There is some vascular vegetation confined to ledges and cracks. Mostly stunted evergreens (Pinus spp., Tsuga canadensis) and heath shrubs (Gaylassaccia baccata, Vaccinium pallidum). This side of the rock seems to receive less sun than the E face. The rare Paronychia argyrocoma was found in the plot.
Representativeness
Species observed alongh Via Ferrata route. Cover setimated from photos. Large Tuscarora sandstone fin covered in lichens with small patch inclusions of evergreen-heath shrubs on ledges and in crevices. Area is similar to Seneca and Champe Rocks. This plot
